Last of the Folds

Here is the last card for my June Fast and Fun Fancy Fold Class.  I learned this fold years ago at a SU Stamp Camp.  Really simple but interestingly fun.  I used a die from Memory Box and Teresa Collins paper and brad.

Here it is open and ready for a thoughtful sentiment...

Perfect Pearls Father's Day Gift Card Holder

Here is another stash of Hen House products that I used to make my second $5 make-n-take for the big craft community swap fest on June 10th.  Paper from MME Indie Chic collection, Hero Arts stamp set, Tim Holtz Distress Ink and applicator tool, Perfect Pearls powder, Perfect Medium stamp pad and Scor tape!

You might remember this gift card layout from a previous post.  I took it as a kit to the Wednesday night shoe box swap a couple of weeks ago.  For that card, I had used SU paper and Memory Box stamped image.  It was fun to recreate the card with the yummy MME paper and the detailed vintage Hero Arts image.  It is hard to tell from the photo but the entire image is covered with Perfect Pearls powder.  It is amazing that the powder combined with the Perfect Medium allows for such fine detail!

This is the card with the front panel slid open.  Perfect place for a father's day gift card or sweet sentiment.  Don't you think?

Have I said recently how much I love my job as a Design Chick?

Buckle Card

More MME Indie Chic Paper and tape and Tim Holtz markers.  This time I used the markers to color directly on the stamp.  Its great because you can blend right on the stamp and don't have to worry about color contamination between markers.

This is the third card for my June Fast and Fun Folds class.  It is a buckle fold.  When the buckle is closed the card lies flat.

This is the card with the buckle open.

Did you notice the MME tape on the front and back of the buckle?  What a great way to add a strip of color to any project!

Color Splashing

For the big craft community swap that the Hen House is hosting on June 10th, I am doing a couple of $5 make-n-takes that highlight some Hen House products.  I used some Dylustion Ink Spray, Tim Holtz stamps, Dew Drops, Spellbinders dies and 7 Gypsies Washi tape.  Fun! Fun! and More Fun!

This is my card.  I was just amazed at how intense the Dylusion inks were.  For the card below, I actually used craft paper, and the results were still so vibrant!  I love this ink spray.  I am going to have to buy it in every color!  If you want to try it out, drop by the Hen House on June 10 and you can make this card for only $5!

SU Swap CLub

Its been a while since I got to swap with the old SU Swap Gals.  It was so nice seeing them again. Although it was a small group, we had lots of fun.  Look at the swap cards....

This card was from Janea's friend...sorry I forgot her name...started with an "S".

Here's a super cute one by Judy...

Shirley crafted this whimsical card...

This was one of the projects Lynn had us do.  Love it!

Here is the second project from Lynn.  We bleached the flowers and then reapplied some color with water brushes. Super fun!

Tee-riffic Fun Fold

I am preparing for my June Fast and Fun class and decided to play with fun card folds.  I am currently in love with Paper Smooches stamps and was so glad to see a masculine set.  Here is the card I made...perfect for the golfing father or grandfather or uncle.

Flip flop card

I was challenged to some how incorporate the new MME Indie Chic paper, tape, Harmonie stamps and Tim Holtz Distress markers into my June Fast and Fun class (Fancy Folds).  It was a little overwhelming at first but super fun in the end.

I found a card on Pinterest and decided that was the fold that I wanted to do.  So that gave me the technique.  Next I stamped the image from Harmonie onto white card stock and played with the Tim Holtz markers.  I wanted to get a watercolor look so I used his new water brush too.  The card stock got too wet so I had to use watercolor paper instead.  Once the image was colored I matched it with MME Indie Chic paper and tape and TA DA!  Here it is...

It's a flip card.  When you pull on the left side.  The image flips over to reveal the sentiment.

Here is a side view.  It's kind of like a swinging window that open and closes.  Very cool and surprisingly easy.

Hope the students in my June class have as much fun as I did when they make their cards.

New Mosaic

Look at the beautiful tile mosaic that the middle school students created at my daughter's school.  They have a long history of having the students create art for future generations.  I particular love this new one and just wanted to share.

Here are some close-ups of the "sun" flower....

And a bird.

Simply gorgeous!

Yummy Inspiration

My next Fast and Fun class is this Saturday.  I like to have all the cards for the next month completed so that current class participants get the first sneak peak.  The June class is scheduled for June 30th at 3pm.  The technique that I will be highlighting is fun card folds.  BUT WAIT....my Tim Holtz Distress Markers came in today and MME new Indie Chic collection arrived at the store....so I have to figure out how to incorporate them both into the class.  Look at my pile of inspiration...

I am so excited to play with it all and come up with some cards!  I love my job!  Stay tuned to see what cards come to life from this pile.

Felicity Re-creation

After Sandy's class on Saturday, I drove to my friend Heather's to complete the card kit that her wonderful sister Felicity created.  You might remember the card from a previous post.  The kite is a My Favorite Things die. The clouds are from Memory box.  Can you see the tiny wooden pieces behind the kite?  I just love it!!  Thanks so much Felicity for sharing your card making magic with us!

Color Smooches with Sandy

Today I took a class from my friend, Sandy.  It was such a blast.  First of all, it was just nice to be able to sit and enjoy the class that someone else prepared.  Having taught a bunch now, I really appreciate all the work that goes into a class. Second, Sandy was super organized.  I pride myself as an organized crafty gal but Sandy wrote the book!  I am definitely stealing some of her ideas for my next class.  Last but not least, Sandy is an awesome card artist.  She is amazingly talented with color combinations.  Not surprisingly, I loved the cards that she designed with paper piecing and Paper Smooches stamps.  Take a peek...

We used beautiful scrapbook paper and then added color with Prismacolor pencils.  I am really looking forward to taking her class in June!

Wednesday Night Fun

I had another wonderful evening of card making with some fabulous women.  I was a little nervous about the card I made.  I was hoping that the directions would be easy enough that I can perhaps do the card in a class at the Hen House one day.  It turned out fine.  Everyone was able to successfully make the card!  Yippee!  Here is the card front. I used SU paper and a Memory Box stamp with Prismacolor pencils.  It is a slider card.  You pull on the tab to reveal a hidden tiny card perfectly sized for a gift card.

Denita's first card

Here is one of Denita's cards that we did.  We stamped and then cut out the flower twice to make a beautiful embellishment.  The card below was designed by Heather.  We stamped on acetate and then did some fancy scoring.  See close-up below.

Here is the second card by Denita.  Can you believe that we made the tulip with the SU owl body punch!  Very clever and I think it turned out beautifully!

Here is Debbie's card.  I just love it!  I am using it for my anniversary card this year!.  We used COPICs, markers and glitter!

Renee's card

Last but not least, Renee designed the card above.  We used COPICs and glitter to make this whimsical card.

Looking forward to card making again with these wonderful ladies!
