Fun with scraps

I had some scraps of paper left over from my Bargello class so I decided to use it up. I punched out circles and scallop circles and made some layered flowers.  I added some crystal lacquer the the middle.   I set them aside so I could make my background. I stamped newsprint randomly over a piece of watercolor paper using Ranger Archival black ink and a background stamp from Memory Box.  Next I spritzed the paper with water and blended some watercolor in blues and green to make a background.  Once they where dry I used some thin washi tape as the flower stem and stamped the leaves with green Archival ink.  I glued some fake grass on the bottom.  This grass is the stuff they use as sushi bars for decoration.  You can get about 500 sheets of it at Asian market stores for about $5.  Put a pop dot where I wanted the flower to go and stuck the flower on.  Stamped the sentiment and then rounded the corners and adhered to a coordinating card.

Bargello cards

Today swap club was cancelled because the hostess woke up with a stomach bug.  So i decided to have the ladies over and do some bargello cards.  I think they turned out cool...

I used washi tape for this one.

May 9th Challenge - stitching

May Theme

May 9
Art Challenge:  Stitching
Journal Prompt:  "All that I'm after is life full of laughter."

I cut up some scraps of gelli'ed deli paper and sewed them together on my sewing machine.  Next I cut out three hearts.  I painted  a blue background with Distress paints and some blue Inka Gold rub.  I painted a black frame with black gesso...(thanks Michael for the idea)... and then doodled with silver, purple and blue metallic sharpies.  I wrote the sentiment ... created a shadow around the hearts and doodled some too.

Here is a close-up of the one of the stitched hearts.

I like to take the challenge one bit further and apply it to my card art.  So I sewed some of the gelli print onto card stock, stamped a bike and sentiment.  Crystal laquer was added to the flowers.  Done.

Fun with alcohol inks and glitter

I love alcohol inks on glossy paper.  So I made some fun backgrounds with some purple and blue inks on white glossy.  I then used a stencil with some blending solution to remove some ink in an argyle pattern.  Had a bunch of decorative images printed on acetate so I put some double sided adhesive on the back and pressed some glitter on the back.  Had fun assembling in different formations.

Journal Prompt:  The Fabric of Your Life

Made a background by stamping circles using an old tape role and Lumiere silver paint.  Sprayed with Huey ink sprays.  Stamped red circles with Archival red ink.  The center is a piece of black sheer fabric that has circles stitched in a pattern on it.   Added die cuts and skeleton leaves and a left over butterfly from a previous project.

Flower thanks for swap club

Played with Gold Lumiere paint dots as a resist for Dylusion sprays. Then stencils a flower with tinted black paste (card above and top right) and just plain black ink (card top left).  The sentiment was stamped on cream colored paper and adhered to card front...covered by wide shear gold ribbon.

Kelley's butterflies

I made this for Kelley's birthday.    I used embossed paper that was used for Gelli printing impressions and then used a hand punch for the butterflies.
