New Stamping Buddies

One of the best things about card crafting is all the cool people that you meet.  Heather and Debbie (who took my January card class) spotted me on my daily walk at my daughter's school.  As luck would have it, they work there.  They came over last weekend and we made the following cards.  It was such a blast.

Here is the first card that we did.  Heather designed it and had a kit all prepared for us to each complete.  I just love the use of two border punches.

What I love most are the super cute coffee cups.  Here's a closer look....

Next Debbie led us through making this delightful card.  The tie is just a knotted rribbon.  The hankerchief was a ribbon scrap through a slit in the heart.

The boobies made me smile.  The three-dimensional cleavage is made with some very clever shading.

I am so lucky to be able to meet such talented card makers who are fun to craft with.  I can't wait until we get together again soon.

Valentine Fun with my little friend

Recently a friend brought her 7 year old daughter over to make Valentines.  She had so much fun that when her mom was hurrying to finish, she said, "But I don't want it to end".  Here are the Valentines that we made.

Here is a closeup of the front...
And here is the back...

Fancy card shapes

One of the fun things to do with your large dies is to cut cards on the fold so that you can create fancy card shapes...like this one...

We will be making fancy card shapes in my February Fast and Fun Technique class.  FYI...the butterflies on this card are colored with Spica pens.  Its hard to see in the photo but they make a classy glitter effect without all the mess.

Edgeabilities

For the fourth card in my February Fast and Fun Techniques class, we will be playing with the new Spellbinder Edgeabilities dies and the Hero Arts Frame Cuts.  The Edgeabilities are a nice option over the border punches that you have to be careful to line up as you punch.  The Frame Cuts coordinate with existing Hero Art stamps.  Fun!  Fun! Fun!

January SU card swap

As promised, I am sharing the cards that the SU ladies made at the last card swap...
Deszarae made this super cute valentine gift card holder.
Heather cut out this love monster to make her card.
Janea embossed coordinating pinks and reds and used the new embossed heart sizzlet to make her card.
Jen made a card based on a design by my cousin, Angela.
Judy made us all a calendar card.
A new member, (sorry I forgot her name), made this super cute card that could be used as a Valentine or something else.
The new Jen made this beautifully embosses card.
Shirley wow'ed s with this bear made from punches.
My mom had fun with the Spellbinder's Nestability dies.

Spellbinder tag

For my February Fast and Fun Technique class, I am featuring techniques with dies.  This card shows how to use virtually any spellbinder die and turn a rectangular piece of paper into a fancy tag.  We will also be using the Tim Holtz movers and shapers tray to cut out the heart that is on this card.

Lynn's Projects

Last weekend, Lynn wow'ed us with four projects at SU swap club.  The first two are super cute Valentine treat gifts...
The one above is a Sweet Tart Heart box that we cleverly covered.
This one is an envelope die that we cut out a heart window and then filled with M&Ms.
Isn't this a cute little card.  You can't tell from the photo but the heart is punched out and glittered.
While making this beautiful card, we learn how to use SU's new framelits dies (like Spellbinders).  I was really excited to learn how to use the bow maker to make the double bow pictured above.
Aren't the flowers too cute?  Really easy to make.  Just punch, crumple, unfolder, layer and then crumple again.

More Hero Arts fun!

Well, I know it won't surprise you, but  I also love the Hero Arts stamp/die sets!  My February Fast and Fun Technique class with be featuring dies.  This card will demonstrate how to use the sets in two ways.

I am thinking about changing the background by using a leaf background stamp by Hero Arts.  What do you think?

Playing with my Hero Arts stuff

I am just in love with the new Hero Arts stamp/embossing folder sets.  They make card making super simple.  Here is one I cased from the Hero Arts web site.  It took about 5 minutes to make....take a peek.
The card uses 3 colors of Distress Inks...scattered straw, wild honey, vintage photo.  Love the quick simplicity!

January Swap Card

Happy New Year everyone!  Sorry I have been so remiss at posting regularly.  The holidays were a blur of family visitors, activities and a bad cold.  It was nice to see family members from afar.  Not so fun having the cold though...which is still lingering somewhat.

Today was the SU swap club that I attend each month.  I usually have my cards made a whole month ahead of time.  This time I actually made the cards the day before so I needed something really quick... punches and embossing folders to the rescue.  Here is my completed card (minus one rhinestone...darn it).

I used 3 SU punches to make the flower.  The embossing folder is one from a Sizzix set that I bought right before Christmas.  It made the two-tone effect by rubbing a Versamark pad over the raised flowers.

I will be sharing some of the other swap cards and the projects that we did later in the week.
