Gelli Arts Printing Plates

Have you seen the Gelli Arts Gel Printing Plates?

The Hen House started carrying these last month.  They are used to make mono prints.  I started playing with it and am addicted.  It is so much fun!!!  Here are two of my first mono prints..

Here are two cards that I made with another print that I did.

Paint Resist

For my December/January class, I am going to feature different ways to use acrylic paint.  The first method is using the Adirondack Paint Daubers on stamps to make a "resist".

Here is the card.  I used various Dylusion stamps to finish up the card.

Queen Isabella of Spain

My daughter's class had a Medieval Day at school last month.  All the kids had to pick a character and dress as them for the day.  In addition, they had to make a written report and art project of their character.  My daughter  was Queen Isabella of Spain.  My mom sewed her dress.  It came out beautifully.

Sami printed out the painting below of Queen Isabella and then drew a graph layout on top.

Next she drew the Queen on a large poster board using the grid squares as a guide.  Then she glued hundreds of 1/2 inch squares on top to make this paper mosaic.

Here is a close up.  I think it turned out fabulous!

Alcohol Ink Winter Sky

I designed this card to teach to a group of students at my daughter's school.  I used glossy paper and alcohol inks with a little silver mixative.  I then stamped Memory Box's Winter Branch stamp over the top.  I dotted white "snow" using a white maker.

Halloween Baking

I have been meaning to post pictures of Sami's cake that she made for a Halloween party that she was going to.

The haunted house, trees and tomb stones were made out of chocolate cookie dough.  The shingles on the roof are sunflower seeds.  The steps are mini Snickers.  The initials on the tombstones were of some of the party guests.  Great fun! Don't you think?

Pink Christmas Bird.

Memory Box has a way of making the hosting beautiful script background stamps.  They are so easy to turn into fabulous cards.  I went a little unconventional and used pink instead of red.  The bird is paper pieced, glossy accented, and popped.

I love making Christmas cards without using red or green.  This large snowflake from Hero Arts comes with a matching die to cut the large snowflake or the just the middle of the large snowflake.  Me likey.. :-).

Fabulous Felicity

Last weekend, my friend Heather's sister Felicity came to town.  Look at the cards that she designed.  She is a master at using die cuts from Memory Box and MFT.

Deer Dad

When I first saw the Memory Box Deer family die, I thought of my father.  He loved to go deer hunting.  When I would go with him, I would lead him astray so we wouldn't kill any of the beautiful deer.  I don't know if he ever knew.  This will be the first Christmas without him.  I still miss his hearty laugh.

Wednesday Night Cards

The ladies came over and we made some fun cards tonight.  Take a peek!

This is one that Denita designed.  Simple but elegant.

Heather cased this one from her sister.  Love it!

Marti did her Cricut magic and designed this card.  We used action wobbles behind the monster.  Super cute!

Here is another designed by Marti.  The lady was stamped and then colored with Prismacolor markers.  We also flocked the poodle and of course, used lots of bling!

Last, I made this one for my wonderful boss at the Hen House.  The glitter paper is actually silver that I colored with alcohol inks.  I can't take credit for the design, however.  I cased it from Pinterest.

Ornament Die

Memory Box has some clever coordinating dies.  I used the ornament set for these two cards.

Snowmen Matchbook

Paper Smooches makes the most adorable stamps.  These snow dudes are a prime example.

They adorn the front of my "matchbook" gift card holder.

Wednesday Night Cards

Some of the ladies came over to make cards tonight.  It was great fun as usual.  Take a peek at what we made...

Renee designed this sassy witch card.

Heather cased this clever card from Pinterest.  I just love the colors.

Denita designed this super cute witch card.  We colored her with Prisma Alcohol markers.

I designed this card using Washi tape and also some home-made washi tape.  I cased the layout from Pinterest.

Denita was a sweet heart and made decorated chocolates for everyone.  Since chocolate gives me migraines, she made these popcorn ones for me.  Wasn't that so nice!

Happy Birthday Sean!

Today is my husbands birthday.  I am so lucky to have someone who is such a good father, partner and friend.  We both took the day off today to spend some quality time together.  Our daughter spent four hours baking yesterday for her dear old dad.  Check out her amazing creations!

These brownie cups cakes are decorated to look like grilled items...hot dogs, shish-ka-bobs, and steaks. Aren't they adorable!

These cup cakes are decorated to look like cherry pies.  Too cute!

This trio of cup cakes is decorated to look like an ear of corn with melted butter.  The corn is jelly beans   and the butter is a partially melted starburst candy.

Last but not least, she made this apple pie!  Super yummy.

I think we are all going to be on a sugar high for a while!

Daughter of the Year!

This is the second in a series of gift cards that I made.  I used a die and stamp set from My Favorite Things.  I love that the t-shirt can be "daughter of the year" or "Mother" or "sister" or "friend".  Very versatile.

I did a little creative paper engineering so that the gift card would be held by a piece of card stock that would slide up but not come all the way out.

A couple of bucks for you

I just love these cute little reindeer by Paper Smooches.  When I saw the coordinating sentiment, I just had to make a gift card holder .

This one swings open to reveal a pocket with the gift card in it.

Pop-up bike

I just love, love, love Memory Box dies.   I used the "Brand New Bike" die to create the front of my pop-up gift card holder.

See the inside  of it below.
