Art Challenge:  Repeating Elements
Journal Prompt:  It's Worth Repeating

I did double duty on this challenge.  I repeated the square and floral pattern and then wrote a bunch of inspirational quotes that are worth repeating.

The squares were patterned paper that I liked.  They were cut into 2 inch squares and mod podged down in a diamond pattern.  I used a stencil and Ranger Archival blank ink to create the floral pattern.  A sharpie was used to write the quotes.  Last I covered the whole thing with a thin layer of Golden Fluid Acrylic "Quinacridone Nickel Azo Gold".

Art Challenge:  Cover Up Good Stuff
Journal Prompt:  Going Undercover

Today's post is inspired by blogger Nika in Wonderland.  I have been watching one or two of her videos each night.  What a wonderful way to fall to sleep.

The challenge "Cover Up Good Stuff" I took a literally.  So I wrote down a bunch of adjectives that describe things that are wonderful about me and then starting layering.  Can you see the words?  It's easier under the blue heart.
First layer was gesso.  Next I layered Tim Holtz Distress paints by dabbing colors and spreading with a baby wipe. I drew the hearts and started adding watered-down TH black soot paint.  Added some yellow dots with a paint and stenci.  Added the pink hexagons with a stencil, Sharpie waterbased white paint pen, and gelatos.  White modeling paste and a stencil were used for the jumbled letters.  I doodled around the yellow dots and hearts.

Art Challenge:  When Not To Stop
Journal Prompt:  "Don't Stop Til You Get Enough!" (Ooh)

Started by sponging gold circles with Lumiere paint.  It creates a gold resist.  Next sprayed pages with various Dylusion ink sprays.  Used charcoal pencil to draw around gold circles.  Rolled stamped image with Archival "plum" ink.  Mixed a little black acrylic paint to some light molding paste to create a wonderful slate grey.  Use a TCW stencil and the paste to add large focal point to the right page.  Had some decorative tissue paper with similar pattern.  Used gel medium to adhere two pieces to the left side of the page.  Use Gelli white pen to outline large focal image on the right side of page.
Inked up a blank stamp pad with lots of white Dylusion ink spray and then stamped similar small pattern randomly around the page.  Wrote sentiment on deli wrap paper and adhered with gel medium.  Enough.

The Blank Page and How to Face It!

Art Challenge:  Under Paper (paper on your work table that gets all inky while you work)
Journal Prompt:  What Lies Beneath?

I swirled some black chalkboard paint around the blank page.  Next I used a paint brush with water  to activate any old paint on the under paper.  Cut out random arrow shapes.  Doodled with white pen, pencils and metallic sharpies. Sprayed with hair spray a fixative.  Used washi tape for the border and then wrote the sentiment.

Dance Like No One is Watching

I love to dance! And I love to make mixed media art!  Today the two collided!  Start with Tim Holtz tissue.  Crisscross with thin washi tape to mask the grid.  Add some yummy Golden acrylics.  Stamp funky shapes with Ranger archival black.  Remove the washi tape.  Stamp the sentiment on tissue paper and adhere with mod podge.  Use Sharpie water-based white pen around the letters.  Found the picture of the woman in an old calendar.  Mounted her on an old scrap of paper that I made long ago with a Memory box background stamp and sponged Distress inks.  A few doodles and I was done!
